Chocolate Winterfest 2015

Last month (August 8-9) saw the return of rather unique annual event to the small town of Latrobe, The Latrobe Chocolate Winterfest. It is an event that demonstrated some of Tasmania’s biggest strengths and drawcards in terms of tourism and local charm.

Now in its eleventh year, the festival is gaining immense popularity, both from visitors, local residents and business owners who participate in the event.

Tasmania is known for its beautiful produce and fine dining, wines and beer, and with the Choclatier House of Anvers located just outside of town, Latrobe has become a popular destination for those with a sweet tooth.

Growing more popular each year, the weekend boasted many fun attractions. On top of cooking classes, mousse eating competitions and a cake decorating competition, this year brought new activities including, shadow puppets with chocolate, a Willy Wonka photo booth and white chocolate foot massages, for the ultimate chocolate fans.

The rise in popularity even bringing chocolatier Pascal Janvier down from Melbourne to host a chocolate appreciation class.

Showing no signs of slowing down, plans have already begun for Chocolate Winterfest 2016. Promising another boon for the state’s economy and excitment for chocolate lovers.
